A Legacy Transformed
McGlades Jewellery Canberra, a cornerstone of the city’s luxury retail scene, sought to create a new boutique that honoured its heritage while providing a modern, immersive customer experience. The project brief was to design a sophisticated space that could house both front-of-house sales, a dedicated bridal and VIP area, and back-of-house workshops and staff facilities. Studio PFA collaborated closely with McGlades Jewellery Canberra to bring their vision to life, ensuring the space reflected the brand’s long-standing reputation for unique, quality craftsmanship.

Vision to Reality
Studio PFA provided comprehensive architectural services, overseeing the project from initial concept design through to the final construction and tender process. Our role was to translate the brand’s identity into a physical space that would elevate the customer journey. The design for McGlades Jewellery Canberra was conceived to create a light and spacious interior, a deliberate choice to make the boutique feel welcoming and expansive. We focused on meticulous detailing and high-quality materials to create an environment that feels both luxurious and authentic.
The Art of Materials
The design elements for this flagship McGlades Jewellery Canberra boutique were chosen to create a warm, inviting, and elegant atmosphere. The material palette is rich with locally made joinery using Australian Tasmanian Blackwood timber, complemented by bronze trims. The surfaces are finished with light colours in the marble feature walls, silk wallpaper, and plush carpet. The eye is naturally drawn to the spectacular large chandelier in the centre of the boutique, which serves as a stunning focal point. Every material was selected to create a bespoke experience, from the custom millwork displays to the thoughtful placement of lighting.
A Seamless Customer Journey
The floor plan of McGlades Jewellery Canberra was strategically programmed to separate the different customer and operational functions. The front-of-house area, with its wall displays and counters, seamlessly flows into a dedicated bridal and VIP space, offering an intimate and personalized consultation area. This thoughtful spatial design ensures a smooth and secure customer journey while providing the necessary back-of-house facilities for workshops and staff, a critical aspect of how McGlades Jewellery Canberra operates.
