A Harmonious Evolution of the “Nature of Time”
Studio PFA was commissioned to oversee the renovation of the existing Grand Seiko Sydney boutique, a space for which we originally provided architectural services in 2019. Situated within the prestigious Westfield Sydney Tower with a prominent street-facing presence on Market Street, the 90m² site was transformed to align with the brand’s latest global concept: “The Nature of Time.” This design evolution emphasizes Fūzoku—the appreciation of nature and seasonal transitions—incorporating a refined spatial program that includes an exclusive VIP lounge, a curated central display console, and featuring a new bespoke bar area to enhance the Grand Seiko Sydney client experience.

Architectural Precision and Brand Stewardship
Our role centered on the meticulous design development of the brand’s concept, ensuring that the high standards of Grand Seiko Sydney were translated into a buildable reality. Studio PFA produced highly detailed drawings and interpretations of the brand’s global guidelines, acting as the technical bridge between international vision and local execution. By providing clear, articulated documentation, we empowered the shopfitter to maintain the uncompromising quality expected by Grand Seiko Sydney, particularly when integrating new elements into the existing ten-meter-wide and eight-meter-tall monumental facade.

A critical component of the project’s success was Studio PFA’s ability to navigate the stringent requirements of Scentre Group and local authorities. Leveraging our long-standing relationship with Westfield’s Retail Design Managers, we secured Landlord approvals efficiently, ensuring the Grand Seiko Sydney vision remained uncompromised. Our proactive approach to CDC building permit approvals meant that DDA accessibility, fire safety, and BCA compliance were addressed during the documentation phase, allowing the fitout to proceed without hurdles and facilitating an effortless Final Occupation Certificate for Grand Seiko Sydney.
Mastery of Detail and Integration
The beauty of the Grand Seiko Sydney boutique lies in the details that often go unnoticed but are essential to a luxury atmosphere. Studio PFA worked in close collaboration with Nicom Interiors to resolve complex interfaces between the new interior and the soaring shopfront. We paid obsessive attention to technical finishes, specifying custom colors for smoke detectors and sprinkler caps to ensure they vanished against the Japanese cypress timber ceilings. This level of care ensures that the architectural soul of Grand Seiko Sydney remains focused on the horological masterpieces on display rather than the building’s infrastructure.
