Base Building Modifications

The project for the Cartier Perth Boutique presented a unique set of challenges inherent in revitalising a heritage structure. Originally featuring steps leading to the existing tenancy, a core component of the base building works involved lowering the entire ground floor area. This crucial modification enhanced equitable access while providing a sprawling 400m² canvas for the new Cartier Perth Boutique. Studio PFA was instrumental in navigating the complexities of this transformation, ensuring the base building services seamlessly integrated with the bespoke fit-out. Close liaison with the Landlord also facilitated effective design solutions for the base building services of the Cartier Perth Boutique.

Architectural Transformation & Localisation

While Cartier’s international designers crafted the initial concept, Studio PFA was entrusted with the design development and localisation of this vision to align with local building codes and standards for the Cartier Perth Boutique. Studio PFA provided pre-design services including existing site measures and inspections, allowing for proactive identification of potential issues, enabling Cartier’s global team to refine their concept accordingly for the Cartier Perth Boutique. A key highlight of the Cartier Perth Boutique is the exquisite integration of Western Australian flora and fauna, evident in subtle details such as dune-like cornices, intricate patterns, and the curated material palette. Throughout this process, Studio PFA played a vital role in maintaining the international designers’ core vision without compromise, ensuring every detail met both local requirements and global luxury standards for the Cartier Perth Boutique.

Design Features & Compliance Solutions

Studio PFA prepared detailed architectural documentation for both heritage approval of external signage and the building application for the Cartier Perth Boutique fit-out. Furthermore, we collaborated closely with the Client to understand back-of-house functions, optimising layouts to accommodate the base building site conditions for the Cartier Perth Boutique. Our expertise also ensured the successful attainment of performance solutions for compliance regarding accessibility and fire safety, safeguarding the brand’s design intent and stringent security requirements without compromise.

Project Outcome

The integration of the existing heritage building’s features with the new, contemporary fit-out for the Cartier Perth Boutique was a significant challenge that Studio PFA executed with precision, resulting in a truly harmonious and iconic retail space. This project highlights Studio PFA’s ability to seamlessly blend heritage preservation with modern luxury retail requirements.
